History
The name “Era” originally represented "the company, which has its past and its future ', and also symbolized our commercial activities: electric industry, mining and agro.
Through time our activities broadened, adapted and expanded across borders into areas of SE Europe. Trade activity was transformed into a total care for professional buyers. In addition, we focused on generating international business connections and developing business environment in which we operate.
1951 A commercial enterprise “Krajevno trgovsko podjetje Velenje”, later called “Bazen”, was established in Velenje, representing the beginning of today's Era.
1966 The company opened its first self-service store in a refurbished marketplace.
1969 Two commercial enterprises “Bazen Velenje” and “Velenjski magazin” (also called “Velma”) merged into “Era Velenje”.
1971 “Kmetijska zadruga Šoštanj” joins Era, which is renamed into “Trgovsko in proizvodno podjetje Era” (Trade and production company Era). In the context of its activity it begun developing a wholesale business.
1974 Modern Era shopping facility opened in Samobor, Croatia.
1976 Era celebrated its silver anniversary, transformed into a working organization with four basic organizations of associated labor (TOZD): TOZD Maloprodaja (retail), TOZD Veleprodaja (wholesale), TOZD Kmetijstvo (agriculture) and DSSS.
1981 “Vino Šmartno ob Paki” joins Era with a referendum.
1982 The independent »TOZD Proizvodnja« is transformed into a fundamental organization of subcontractors »TOK Koplas«.
1986 Era buys its today's administrative buliding at »Prešernova cesta« in Velenje from companies »Velenje lignite mine« and »PTT«.
1987–1989 Era spreads on the markets of SE Europe by establishing its branch offices. The commercial and productive organization Era is transformed into a unified company.
1991 Era is transformed into a joint stock company Era d.d.
1992 Mr. Gvido Omladič becomes the CEO of the company, which begins with an intensive development of wholesale food procurement agencies and marketing of new programs and brands.
1999 The company Agrina d.d. from Žalec is merged with Era.
2000-2005 22 smaller trading companies in Slovenia and Croatia are merged with Era.
2000 The development of »Adut«, »Prima Cash & Carry« and wholesale activities.
2001 Era continues with further development and expansion of its business by purchasing Skopje Fair in Macedonia and developing its own brands.
2005 The retail network in Croatia and Slovenia is sold. Era continues its expansion on the markets of Montenegro and Kosovo.
2006 Era Group is transformed into a flexible and business-oriented company. Construction of commercial, business and entertainment centers Era City Skopje in Macedonia. The renovation Era Group image.
2009 Eko Energetika, a modern, highly technologically advanced subsidiary company, producing the energy from alternative, renewable sources and contributing to greener environment, is established.
